I have just sent off an email inquiry to this lady who has a rental on a canal on an island just off Placencia, Belize that she just listed. Rent for this 1 bedroom, furnished bungalow is $650/mo. There is a small Garifuna village on this small quiet island. I would have to use a boat provided to get across the 50 foot wide canal to the pennisula (quaint, eh?)
